Damien Hirst & Banksy painting goes for $1.8 million

“While we mentioned the success of the charity auction held on Valentines day at sotheby’s seeing this Banksy and Hirst Piece sell for $1.8million, the charity event held by Hirst and U2’s Bono has raised a total of $42 million to benefit numerous Aids charities. The event included works by 75 artists including Richard Prince, Jasper Johns, Damien Hirst, Ed Ruscha, Francesco Clemente, Jeff Koons, Banksy, Andreas Gursky, Antony Gromley, and Murakami, and saw Hirst’s “Where there’s a Will there’s a Way”, a medicine cabinet filled with anti-viral HIV drugs, sell for $6.2 million alone.
