Salman Agah, Skatebook.tv, Skatecoverage, and more

This is me taking a break from work.  Today has been a serious grind hustlin’ this party this weekend in Mammoth, Back To The Streets, Hip Hop Leaders, the blog, music, networking………… So, I went skating.. finally landed a nose manual on this curved ledge that I have MAYBE done 2-3 times before and now, I’m doing this before going back to work. Ah man… I also left a chicken pot pie in the oven for 2 hours.  That’s not at all surprising if you know me. So, how does any of this have to do with Salman Agah… it doesn’t.  I just felt like doing some mindless typing for a minute while I IM with my brother who just got back from Puerto Rico.  Sumuma bitch!  Him and like 10 friends rented some phatty house and did some hard core chillin’.  I guess they had a 30 ft. swell while he was there.  Crazy. Aight… So last week I went to this “group Y” meeting.  See Branding in Action Sports Part 1 of 3 and you can then search for 2 & 3 if you care. Anyways, at the meeting I was introduced to Salman.  Other than knowing who he was from skating, a dude named Neil Alanzo I use to do Guerilla Marketing for in the Detroit are started a company with Salman called Skatecoverage ( http://skatecoverage.wordpress.com/).  It’s actually pretty amazing.  They tally exposure of products, skaters, and things like that in magazines.  It’s actually the most accurate measure for brands wanting to know what’s being seen, what’s working, what people are feelin’, etc. So when I was introduced to Salman I told him I knew Neil… he looked at me and read my name tag…”Omer?” …”Yeah?”… “Do you have a blog?”… “Yeah”… “What’s it called?”… “UniverSOUL Productions”… “I read that shit every day”… “Really?  What do think?”… “It’s dope”… “Thasswassup!” We rapped for a minute, he gave me this book he published called Skatebook.tv. Since I got home from skating today I’ve been watching this shit on the website (http://www.skatebook.tv/).  Fuckin’ DOPE!  SO WELL DONE!  Above all, it feels like skateboarding!  Fun, Stupid, Dope, Sick, Random, Educational, Progressive… A well balanced skateboard diet!  This is more entertaining to me that just about anything out there right now skateboard wise.  Granted videos like Fully Flared are insane, but this I can watch regularly.  The segments aren’t too long, but long enuff to cover a subject.  Like I said, it’s well balanced with history and current hottness, punk rock and urban, etc..
