Mini Ode to Jay Buck (R.I.P.) & 4/20 – Satori & Culture Skate Shop competition/celebration
I almost forgot it’s about to be 4/20. The most memorable 4/20 I’ve had was going to see Dave Chapelle in Ann Arbor, MI. Every year (I think they still do it), Ann Arbor has “Hash Bash.” Now that I think about it, Hash Back and 4/20 may not be on the same days. See what weed does to you! Fuck it. Here’s what I’m posting about..
“This coming Sunday, April 20th the Satori Movement and Culture Skate shop will be holding a celebration and competition of sorts at San Francisco’s renowned 3 up 3 down with a cash prize of $420 for the overall best line. Open to pros, ams and unknowns with the skills, just show up at 2pm to get entered in the contest. It’s a jam session for 45 minutes or until the cops come to shut it down. Some heavy hitters are expected and Fuel TV and other media outlets are expected to cover the event.” - SKATEDAILY.net
Real quick, I do want to go back to the most memorable “Hash Bash” ever. Back in the day, Ann Arbor use to take it up a notch on this day. A bunch of us went up there to skate and party. We skated ALL DAY and then partied. At some point we all decided to go skate again. Our good friend JAY BUCK (R.I.P.), decided to try something sick! He took a piece of plywood and leaned it on the CORNER of this 12” ledge that started at 2 ft. high and went to about 6 ft at the end. My drunk ass filmed the this over and over again as Jay bombed this hill, ollied onto the sidewalk, flew up this plywood, and ollied off the end of the ledge. The footage is back at my parents place in Michigan somewhere and when I fly back there tomorrow night, I’ll try to remember to look for it. The crew was all drinking 40s and sitting on another ledge watching, hootin’ and hollerin’. GOOD FUCKIN’ DAYS!! I miss those days SOO much. And I miss Jay Buck! I’ll have to do an entire post dedicated to that man. He was AWESOME. R.I.P. brotha. We’ll never forget you.
OHHH SHIT.. I found some photos on flickr of Jay.
