S.O.U.L. Purpose put out this diss track targeting Jay Electronica & The Cool Kids.  Honestly, I think it’s about time some of these cats been put to the test.  I don’t think Jay is wack, but I’m just not really checkin’ for him yet.  He has yet to blow me away with anything.  The Cool Kids and the rest of these overnight “sensations” that put on a pair of tight pants, sunglasses, get a spiffy haircut, and hustle the internet content game NEED TO BE CHECKED.

I’m not saying they’re all wack, mostly because I don’t really check for any of their music, but I am saying that most of these cats ain’t paid dues and definitely don’t have the skills that a lot of other artists out there have.  Because of that, the need to be checked and challenged.  That’s the art of hip hop.  Unfortunately, today, instead of losing a career after being served, you get to do a track with the dude a few years later (KRS & NELLY), WTF?

Aight, nuff said.  Here’s the “diss” track.  It’s not really that heavy at all, but at least one emcee has decided to say something.  I hope a bunch more of these come out and I hope that the crews being dissed battle back.  That, I might check for.
