Pacewon & Mr. Green’s – “The Eye of a Needle” (video)
I’ve been a Pacewon fan since he did that cameo on the Fugees – “Cowboys” track from The Score. Pace has always had one of those unmistakable Jersey gutter styles and I say that in the best way possible. There is something about New Jersey that produces these super raw n’ grimey artists like Redman, Artifacts, Rah Diggah, Lords Of The Underground, and others… some real backpack, blunt smokin’, walk the yards, hip hop shit.
In this song, Pace doesn’t really bring his signature style of his. He’s a lot smoother, has less emphasis on certain words, and sounds a lot more like Rakim than the old Pacewon. It’s still good there. It still feels like real hip hop to me.
Pace also says some apologies in the video, which I admire. I like when artists make songs about being wrong. I think it’s really humbling and mature. Songs like De La Soul “Fallin’” and Fat Lip “What’s up Fatlip” are a couple good examples.
Anyways. Here’s the video. Enjoy.
