Epicly Later’d – Gino Iannucci part 1 – 3

September 13, 2008

Every fan of skateboarding is a fan of Gino (I sincerely hope).  Gino has almost become a mythical legend since you rarely see him, constantly hear about his greatness and style.  Well, Epicly Later’d somehow managed to reach Gino and get him to do this spotlight on him.
Check it out here.

September 13, 2008

Some of you may have read a longer, slightly less focused version of this, but Ypulse asked me to do a guest post on their site and here it is – Ypulse guest post – Reaching Youth In The Action Sports Worlds

Here is the short version of what Ypulse is:

Ypulse is a media platform for [...]

Andrew Langi

September 11, 2008

That boy good.  This is very much throw-away footage, but it’s still good.  Andrew has taken grace and making skating look easy to another level.  Enjoy.

ALien

September 10, 2008

Not only is the skating really good, but someone finally decided to edit the skating to the music.  Thank you!  I thought everyone was gonna start doing that 8 years ago, but it suddenly stopped.

Highvalley Skatepark get 3 million Euro donation!

September 10, 2008

WOW!!!  First, let’s bask in the thought of having this near where we live and being able to skate it whenever we want.
See that tiny guy up top with his hands up in the air?  He’s can’t even skate right now.. he’s praising the gods for making this park a reality.

The big news is, you [...]

Jimmy Cao’s part in “What the Fuck Is A Bashinsky?”

September 10, 2008

This is a really good skate.  Jimmy’s got great style.  I wonder if these are the same producers of “The Don’t Give A Fuck About Us.”  Anyone?

Chima Ferguson

Bam’s or Bust Element Trailer

September 7, 2008

So Element is coming out with a new video called Bam’s or Bust, which is basically another video capturing the high voltage, fast paced, raging power cord driven reality of what goes on at Bam’s house.
Two words, “Fuck yeah!”  I’m not sick of this madness yet at all.  Enjoy the trailer.

“Grey Daze” Matix skate video

September 7, 2008

I’m so glad I found this video on sirj skateboarding.  I really wanted to post some good skating that would round off all the posts from the day and this video is super dope.  The skating is more than just good… it’s stylish and creative, fun to watch, and just refreshingly different from most of the [...]

Van Wastell – R.I.P. (1984-2008)

September 7, 2008

This is really sad and unexpected news.  I’m assuming this happened this weekend down in San Diego during the ASR trade show.  See below for details and a small tribute to the man.

UPDATE: From the Matix site:
“There are some things in life you can never prepare for. I received a call from DLX’s Jim Thiebaud yesterday, [...]

Marshall Heath

September 2, 2008

Could this kid possibly skate with any less effort?  I will rarely ever say this, but it might be nice if this kid actually tried a bit harder and was a tad bit less relaxed.. haha.
I don’t know Marshall at all, but my experience with kids that skate like this, is that they end [...]

Town (skate) Park in Oakland – benefit, Hood Games, and other freshness

September 1, 2008

Very cool.  Especially if you’re in the Bay Area, you should do what you can to help.  If someone wants to pay for a train ticket and some food, I’m there.  Holla.
Keith “K Dub” Williams his friends from the Hood Games have spent the last ten months deconstructing ramps, moving and building Oakland, California’s skatepark “Town [...]

Thrasher “Bust or Bail” contest results & highlights

September 1, 2008

This is a great simple concept for a contest that is really aligned with the Thrasher brand.
People THROUGH DOWN!!  The video is well done too.  You get a good dose of reality right off the bat and then for the next minute or so… Then, you see how ridiculously good some people are when they’re [...]

Sk8ology skateboard/art show in Long Beach w/ Yours Truly, DJ Bacuzzi Luv

August 28, 2008

I DJ’d a really dope event this last Saturday in my own stomping ground of downtown Long Beach.  Sk8ology and ISM Community put the one-off original skateboard art show together.  Open bar, packed venue with good people, a good cause, and great music (of course).  Here are some photos of the night.

Dyson’s leaked part from the new Stereo Skateboards’ video

August 24, 2008

Stereo Skateboards leaked a sneak peek at Dyson’s part from their new video.  Stereo just wouldn’t live up to it’s name if it didn’t have an outstanding music selection in their videos.
Dee Edwards – “Why Can’t There Be Love” is an all-time favorite of mine.  Sooo good.  You can get that song and a bunch [...]

DVS wins Transworld Skate & Create contest (their video as well as the other companies’ below)

August 24, 2008

Transworld did a really cool and creative contest between four skate teams.  Each 5-member team got 9 days in a warehouse to do whatever they wanted to.  The result was a lot of construction, skateboarding, creativity, and filming.  DVS was just announced the winner.  Below is their video.
DVS teamriders: Andrew Brophy, Keith Hufnagel, Zered Bassett, Daewon [...]

Keller James – Battle Commander of The Berrics skate part

August 22, 2008

Battle Commander of The Berrics is one of the greatest honors a skater can be given.  Keller kills it in this video.  He does a LOT of serious tricks.  I am not quite sure he’s Battle Commander status though.  I think his style needs to improve.  Nevertheless, this part is sick.  I also STRONGLY encourage [...]

Aquil Brathwaite

Tyler Surrey @ The Berrics

August 17, 2008

It’s difficult to say whether I like the skating, filming & editing, or the music more in this clip from the Berrics.  Good problems to have..

Gou Miyagi (one of the coolest skate parts I have ever seen!)

August 13, 2008

This is one of the DOPEST skate parts I have EVER seen.  I wish every post on this blog was as innovative, unique, and progressive at this one.  Clearly, we stick to what’s really good, but this represents that .01% that really stand out.
This is the essence of what Art is about to me.  Whether [...]

UniverSOUL Productions has been working very closely with the Hip Hop [...]

Zoo York – State of Mind (trailer)

August 11, 2008

Well… the video doesn’t show much.  The one or so tricks that each skater does are pretty good, but it doesn’t give you much insight to what the video is gonna be like.  It’s still worth a quick view.

via sirj.

Sk8Mafia @ The Berrics (outstanding!)

August 9, 2008

HOLY SHHHH!  Sk8Mafia DESTROYS The Berrics!  This video part is incredible.  Every single one of them absolutely kills it (Tyler Surrey, Jamie Palmore, Larelle Gray, Buttery Ass Donovan, Nick Tucker, Peter Smolik, Brandon Turner, Guy Mariano, Wes Kremer and Kellen James).  Dope styles and a ridiculous bag of tricks.  It’s overwhelming actually.
Watch it here.

Laurent Gehin

August 8, 2008

Laurent’s style is so smooth and casual.. I love it.  Great part.

Filipe Ortiz – Flip Back 360 Carlsbad Gap

August 7, 2008

Like curiculummag, this is the first time I’ve seen this footage.  Sadly, I have a feeling it was never ridden away from.  Hopefully I’m wrong.  Either way, it’s insane.

David Gravette’s full part in Born Dead

August 6, 2008

Most skateboarding posts here are on some real good style street skating, but this kid is a freakin’ hesher and deserves the spotlight.  Kid goes big and fast.  Creature is making a solid comeback these days.  Enjoy.

via sirj.

Grant Jensen

August 6, 2008

This is a great skate part to a great song… and if I understand it right, Rob G is behind the camera.  Enjoy.

DVS x Skatelab shoe video

August 4, 2008

This video shows you the Skatelab, which is pretty much a museum of skateboarding and a skate park.  It also shows off DVS’s new shoe collabo with Skatelab, which I think was done really well and pays tribute to the lab.

*** Danny Way’s ‘08 X-games recovery. He’s a hero. ***

August 2, 2008

YOOOOOO….  This shhh is bananas!  I don’t have a TV, nor do I generally watch the X-Games, but you should definitely watch this!
Danny Way is a GOD!  This is nothing new to many of us, but it is absolutely insane and incomprehensible how he continues to get better and push the sport to new limits. [...]

New skate montage from Buffalo, NY

July 31, 2008

I like the pace and quality of this video.  That’s kinda been the pace today.  Woke up, stretched, surfed, worked, blogged, cooled out to Good Time Records’ Jonny – “Waxidermy Mix” and Notorious BIG – “Ready To Die [ O.G. Edition ]”, and about to go skate.  Feels like Suday and I can afford it after three 14 [...]

Easiest way to spot a poser when they’re not skating.

July 31, 2008

You can tell a skateboarder didn’t design this by the way Bruce is holding the deck by the trucks.  Easiest way to spot a poser when they’re not skating.  Truth.

William Phan’s part in “They Don’t Give A F*ck About Us”

July 31, 2008

Man.. I remember seeing this video a few years ago for the first (and last) time and falling in love with it right away.  There’s nothing more important to me in a skate video that clean style.  Add good music, some shots of the crew wylin’ out and having fun, and you got yourself something [...]

Koston is ridonkulous!

July 24, 2008

Koston is ridiculous!  You can almost feel that he can’t believe he hasn’t done the trick yet.  As absolutely insane of a trick it is, he knows he’s got that shhh.  I’d bet all the money I have that he not only stomped that trick, but that he did it as buttery as it could [...]

Justin Cefai – The Skateboard Mag video

July 23, 2008

Good GAWD, this part is soo good!

New snow making technology, lower energy usage, at any temperature!

July 22, 2008

Relevant for three reasons…  Snowboarding, Energy (doing good), and ISRAEL.. haha.  I gotta big up Israel whenever I can.

“Tel Aviv, Israel – IDE Technologies (IDE), equally held by Israel Chemicals of the Israel Corporation and the Delek Group, is enlarging its core operations by introducing a unique refrigeration technology for producing man-made snow.”
It’s basically going [...]
